Megapolis Group Holding Company opened WATERFALL PRO, a Biaxially-Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) film Plant

— Opening of the plant is an important event both for the national developing chemical complex and for the film packing sector, — stated Denis Manturov after an introduction excursion around the plant. — Thanks to such projects the hydrocarbon processing in our country is increasing and no less importantly the deep processing import products are replaced by domestic ones without loss in quality. According to the Ministry of Trade and Industry appearance of a new player in the polymeric materials market will greatly enhance competition in the domestic market. WATERFALL PRO plant is the most modern not only in Russia and the CIS but also throughout Europe in its segment. This Is high-tech production equipped with innovative world-class machinery.

WATERFALL PRO plant has two lines for production of about 20 types of 3 and 5-layer BOPP film 8.7 meters wide which were constructed especially for WATERFALL PRO by the DORNIER Company (Germany) and optimized for a wide range BOPP films thickness of 10 to 40 microns. Both lines are equipped with modern high-speed metallizers and also Kampf and Atlas CW500 reel cutting machines. After starting the second line in autumn 2016 the planned production capacity will constitute 60 thousand tons of finished goods per year. The total investment will amount 8.4 million of rubles. The financial partner of the project is “Rosselchozbank”.

— Today we open WATERFALL PRO plant built from nothing. Credit for this should be given to those people who promoted the project which is a part of the “100 Governor projects”, — said Vasily Golubev, Governor of the Rostov Region. — 317 new jobs were created; 8.4 million of rubles were invested. The new plant is the best proof of the consistency of our policy in attracting investment and in getting import substitution.

The suppliers of the plant are Russian and world-known producers of high-quality raw materials for BOPP film production: “LUKOIL”, “SIBUR”, “Nizhnekamskneftechim”, INEOS (The Netherlands), CONSTAB Polyolefin Additives GmbH (Germany), Ampacet Europe SA (Belgium).

Konstantin Kuzin, General Director of Megapolis Group Holding Company, said that the plant moved into the production phase with the capacity of 2.5 thousand tons of finished goods per month. — High-tech equipment in conjunction with multi-stage quality system will provide an opportunity to produce competitive films with special properties that allow the manufacturers to minimize the cost of final goods. We’ll be actively working in the Russian market and also we’re going to export about 50% of our products, — noted Konstantin Kuzin.

As part of the opening ceremony Denis Manturov, the head of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation, handed over special diplomas to the employees of WATERFALL PRO who worked on the project. Valery Sereda, the technical director of the plant, Michail Bekrenev, the main engineer, Vladimir Spizin, the chief manager of the BOPP department, Oleg Zinchenko, the chief manager of metallization, cutting and packing department, were awarded for the personal contribution to the development of the Russian industry.

Currently WATERFALL PRO is preparing for the certification of Quality Management System according to the international standard ISO 9001 and Food Safety BRC. The latter one is a unified and complete food safety standard and is supported by the world’s leading food producers and retailers. The main spheres of BOPP film application are flexible food packaging, non-food packaging, manufacturing of labels, adhesive packing tapes. The products are intended for high-speed printing lines and take into account the need to reduce the weld threshold.

The main task of WATERFALL PRO plant in the conditions of import substitution is providing high-quality packaging materials for Russian food and processing companies and also entering the foreign market.
